The next steps are very easy to follow and allow to change the WIFI security key in a few minutes. These are the instructions:
- The first step is to make sure having an available computer or laptop, and connect it to the router through an Ethernet cable, as port of connection between the two devices and access the configuration.
- With the two devices connected, using the computer we open an internet browser of choice, generating a new tab or window.
- On the address bar on the window or tab, we are going to enter the IP address of the CenturyLink router, which must be “https://192.168.0.1”.
- The graphic interface of the wireless router will load on the window, and at this point it will ask us to enter the credentials of the emitter, such as Username and Password. If such credentials have not been changed, the default information can be found on a sticker on the router, in order to log in.
- Now we have entered to the router´s configuration through the GUI or graphic interface, and on the left there is a main menu to start the configuration. In this case that we want to change the WIFI password, let´s click on “Wireless Setup”.
- On Wireless Setup, we are going to click on the option “Wireless Security” that is shown as a sub-menu.
- There are several options here. For example, by clicking on the SSID space you can change the name of the network, so it can be completely customized.
- Following, the next step is to select the type of encryption for the WIFI password. Choosing WPA or WPA2 will do the work just fine.
- When we choose the type of encryption, the system will automatically generate a random password that can be used just fine. To change it, we select the option “Use Custom Security Key” and write a new one.
- The platform itself recommend to use long passwords with space, symbols, numbers and letters for better protection.
